Chapelle Saint Jean Baptiste de Modulance, Rieupeyroux
The Saint Jean-Baptiste Chapel is set on the Modulance moutain, thus offering a great panorama on the Segala at 804 meters.
This Chapel is dedicated to Jean-Baptiste and allegedly replaced a former site of pagan worship. She was apparently built to have an eye on all the horizons of this vast region. Indeed, this chapel offers a great panorama on the Pyrenees, Montagne, Cevennes, Lévezou, Palange, Aubrac and the Puys du Cantal. Another tradition says that, during the IIIth century, the Limousin and Aquitaine apostle named St Martial founded an oratory for Christians in this very same place. To get there, follow the D911 towards Villefranche then take the road on the right signposted for the Chapel. You can visit the chapel by phoning 05 65 65 51 12
