Eglise St Jean-Baptiste de La Bastide l'Evêque, Le Bas-Ségala
This meridional gothic church from the XIV-XVI period is quite special with its pink granite built. It is a great example of a steeple porch reminding us of the one from Villefranche de Rouergue.
The church's most ancient parts are the pentagonal choir and the arms of the transept. The grayish stained glass is also quite ancient, dating back to the end of the Middle Age. It is decorated with a rare crucifixion.
Both lateral chapels extended the church during the XVIth century. The north one is dedicated to the Virgin whilst the south one is placed under the patronage of St Dalmas. He is represented in a gold reliquary bust and a pilgrimage was also dedicated to him.
The steeple porch was in all likelyhood built during the XVIth century. It crosses the street which reminds us of the Villefranche de Rouergue's church.
