Eglise de Saint-Salvadou et sa croix processionnelle, Le Bas-Ségala
Come and visit this remarkable neogothic church nicknamed the Cathedral of Segala !
In 1882, the project of rebuilding the old and small church was born: every inhabitant pitched in and helped with their time and skills.
In 1885, the inhabitants could be proud of their work: a remarkable church that deserved the name of “Cathedral of Segala” by its height, its bell tower and its elegancy. The church possesses a beautiful processional silver cross dating back to the end of XVth- beginning of XVIth century (built by Pierre Prechrieu). There is also a stone stoop from 1830 and a Way of the cross from the XIXth century (made by the Giscard workshop). 2007 marked the end of the renovations with the help of parishioners and local communities.
If the church is closed, don't hesitate to ask the grocer to open it ! (schedule: Tuesday to Saturday: 9am-12.30 am and 4pm-7pm, Sunday from 9 am to 12.30 am).
